Puppy Troubles

Okay, so first note is that I’m not writing this first thing in the morning. I promise I have a good reason for that, though. I’m cleaning my Mom’s house today for extra cash, and I also brought my puppy over here to socialize him with my parents’ dog because he got lost and separated from his litter very early. He doesn’t know how to interact with other dogs, and I’m hoping bringing him to interact with Mom and Dad’s dog will help.

So, the dog that Lake and I have is pretty much still a puppy, and he’s undersocialized. He has no idea of how to interact with other dogs and he likes to play a little too rough. He tends to get too mouthy and nippy because he never had the opportunity to learn better with his mom and littermates.

It’s been going really well, all things considered.

I Hate the Time Change!!!

Is anybody else struggling with it? I know I am. I was JUST getting into a good sleep schedule when we had to spring our clocks forward an hour. Since the time change, I’ve found myself utterly exhausted and worn out! I’ve been letting it throw me completely off my game if I’m being honest.

I need to be tougher and more disciplined. I need to drag myself out of bed when the alarm goes off and get things done. I think I may relapse into my coffee dependency, but I’ve got to start getting things done instead of allowing myself to sleep in and shuffle around in a sleepy haze all day.

So, tomorrow, I’m going to get up and have a cup of coffee, and I’m going to do my hour of writing before I do anything else. I’ll be checking in in the morning to let y’all know how it goes!

Six Flags!

Being an adult is a lot like being a kid, just with more freedom. Today, Lake and I are adulting without a manual at Six Flags over Georgia. Stay tuned for more!

So, I wondered if the season passes we bought were really going to be worth it. I can already say that they are! We’re getting exclusive access to brand new rides today. Love it!

Okay, so coming on opening day had a few unforeseen pitfalls.

  • Tons of people because it’s opening day makes for LONG lines.
  • New employees haven’t really found the rhythm of working in a theme park yet.
  • A lot of the kinks haven’t been worked out of the rides yet. Less working cars means longer wait times.

On the plus side, though:

  • Roller coasters are always fun!
  • Good food.
  • Didn’t have to wait long for the Batman ride.
  • There is now a hotline where you can report line jumpers. Security finally cracked down on that rampant problem, and it is no longer tolerated.

What Is This Blog About?

Good question! I decided to start writing this blog because of a conversation I recently had with a friend of mine, Chelsea W.

This conversation inspired me to create a blog chronicling the adventures Lake and I have together trying to “adult without a manual.” Even though we’ve known each other since kindergarten, Lake and I are very different people and we’re constantly bringing each other into new experiences, and teaching each other new things!

So, basically, this blog is the chronicle of our adventures in married life, some big and some small!

Panini Pete’s – Downtown Mobile – 3/6/16

We decided to come to Mobile with our friends Tori and Luke for a fun day out. We went to the flea market (my very first experience at one), and I loved it. Can’t wait to go back. There’s so much cool stuff you wouldn’t see at a regular store. I especially loved a lot of the antique costume jewelry. It has so much personality! I also saw several brooches that I would love to incorporate into pieces of art, somehow.

After we grab lunch, we’re going to check out the King Tut exhibit at the History Museum of Mobile. Right now, though, I want to focus on Panini Pete’s. I love the Downtown Mobile location’s general aesthetic right off the bat.

I love this chandelier! It hangs above a table decorated with gangster movie art. The place has endless charm.

Enough about the looks of the place, though, right? What about the food? OH. MY. GOD.

I had the Beercheese Burger. It was to die for! Hands-down the best burger I’ve ever eaten in my life. Also, the fries are addictive! Love them. I highly recommend Panini Pete’s if you’re looking for an excellent burger and the best fries you’ll ever eat.

What about the service? The wait staff is VERY attentive! They kept our drinks full, and checked at regular intervals to see if there was anything we needed. My only qualm is that I wish they asked us how we’d like our patties cooked while we were ordering. I tend to like my meat well done, but even so the burger was DELICIOUS.

I highly recommend that you check out Panini Pete’s in Downtown Mobile when you get the chance!

Enjoying Sprint Cars at Deep South Speedway

Couldn’t resist taking some shots of the sun setting over Deep South Speedway today. Gotta love dirt track racing! Since the track is under new management again, I’m very tempted to write a review of our experience at the track.

Pros:

  • Nice Bathrooms
  • Convenient Location
  • Large Concession Stand
  • Sprint Cars Came

    ย  Cons:

  • No American flag present at the track.
  • PA system was working very poorly. The only place you could hear it was by the restrooms.
  • Only made use of a couple of windows in the large concession stand, so concessions lines were ridiculously long all evening.
  • Couldn’t seem to keep the Ladies’ room stocked with paper towels, so a lot of people had to walk out into the blistering cold with wet hands.
  • Tech went on a disqualification spree that probably alienated a lot of drivers.
